Le parola "gospel" in anglese es descendite de "godspell" in le
anglese antique = "good news" e es probabilemente un
traduction a calco del latin _bona adnuntiatio_, que in torno
esseva un traduction a calco del grec _euangelion_ = ang.
"evangel".  In le historia de iste parola il habeva alcun
confusion de "god" con "God" (Deo), e le -o- breve de "God"
reimplaciava le -o- longe del saxone "god" = "good" = bon.
Similar processos ha occurrite in germano.

Le anglese equalmente ha le parolas "evangelist" (evangelista),
"evangelism" (evangelismo), "evangel","evangelical","evangelize".

Le grec "euangelion" < _eu_ (bon) + _angelos_ (messagero).
