Hello,  Here are helpful tips I received for our upcoming trip to Kauai and Oahu. Thanks to each of you! Oahu --Visit Sweet Marie’sGluten-free bakery cafe on Oahu. Previously located on Kauai. Delicious baked goods allstrictly GF.  Kauai is almost theCalifornia annex food wise— all our favorite GF groceries are in the storesthere.  We enjoyed a Mexican Food truck outside Princeville.

Oahu --

ABC stores - found everywhere -have the basic food items plus souvenirs - yogurt, fruit, etc.

Down to Earth - https://www.downtoearth.org/our-stores/our-locations -organic and natural food store has options

Tropics at the Hilton WaikikiHotel - I had a good burger with bun and fries done in separate fryer

Ruffage Natural Foods - 2443 KuhioAve - I had a good turkey sandwich with avocado

Flour & Barley (don't let thename fool you) - good pizza that you can build your own

Apps and books --Eating GF there is asmuch a dream as the islands themselves! You will be amazed that everybody inthe restaurants knows about GF and cross contamination. While traveling I tendto eat at local establishments that prepare food from scratch... Get theseapps-the GyPSy guides to each island, and books - the guides by Andrew Doughty, for each island. Download the apps before you leave home. As you drive aroundthe island, it follows you by GPS and suggests routes, stops along the way, andgives a history of the geography, customs, and more as you go along. The booksare fantastic and give restaurant suggestions which were never wrong, as wellas hotels, inns, BandBs and more.

-Linda

From a friend not onthis list: Kauai --There is a health food store in Kapaa, and one on the northshore in Kilauea.  The drug store at the shopping center in Lihuecarries tons of alternative food items.
