Many things people do are done in the name of God.
The Irish blow up one another in his name.  Arabs even
blow themselve up in his name.  Imams and ayatollahs
oppress women [and kill off gay people!!!] in his
name.  Popes and celibate priests (ruin) /
([screw]/[fuck] up) people's sex lives in his name.
Jewish "shohets" cut the throats of living animals in
his name.

The role of religion in history--bloody crusades,
inquisitions with torture, murderous conquistadors,
missionaries who destroy cultures, legal resistance to
every new scientific discovery up to the most recent
ones--is even more outrageous.

And what has this accomplished.  I believe that it is
increasionly obvious that the answer is absolutely
NOTHing.  There is no reason to believe that any gods
at all exist nor or ever have existed in the past.
All of them have wasted a lot of time and incredible
numbers of lives.  Such beliefs would be a joke of
cosmic proportions were it not for the incredible
tragedies they have caused.
