Because it is my first post, because I have no confidence in my translation
skill, and in case you're interested in what I was trying to say, I give
the English version:

WHO Sending Out Diagnostic Kits Worldwide
by Jacques BOYER, Reuters
from "Sightings on the Radio"

Geneva, Switzerland - The World Health Organization (WHO) plans worldwide
shipments of diagnostic kits for "bird flu," a WHO official said Wednesday,
among increasing fears that the deadly virus is moving from Hong Kong. Four
people have died from the flu.

Diagnostic kits for the virus are prepared in collaboration with the Center
for Diseased Control and Prevention in Atlanta, George, USA, said Daniel
Lavandry, chief of the anti-influenza program for the WHO.

"This is something new. All of the national influenza centers, 110 centers
in 82 countries, will receive them," Lavanchy said.

Asia, including China, is well equipped to use this equipment, but Viet Nam
and Cambodia not so well prepared, he said.

The mobilization of equipment happens as experts warn of the hazard of
worldwide spread of influenza. Experts are baffled by how the germ,
previously found only in birds, is now attacking humans. Hong Kong's
citizens are terrified by the virus.

The virus, known since 1961, is spread through the air. But we don't know
if it spreads from person to person, or if it will die off, Lavanchy said.

The risk of epidemic is certain. "This is very contagious. It travels by
air, by rail, and by boat," Lavanchy said.

The WHO opposes quarantine or travel restrictions, which it says or
impractical. "We will monitor it," Lavanchy said. "We have to wait until
January or February." The WHO is working on the vaccine, but said it might
be too late. The vaccine will be ready in July.

What do you think? Of the translation? Or the influenza problem?
