APRC militants beat up health
centre guard
Around 8.30pm Saturday, four men believed to be militants
of the
APRC, clashed with some staff of the Brikama Health Centre,
beating up one. According to eye-witnesses, four men on
board a
vehicle number GG 2633, took a pregnant woman, Mariam
Manneh, to the health centre for delivery.
As the woman was being taken into the labour room by the
nurses, the four men tried to enter the room but were
stopped. The
nurses and a guard told them only the health centre staff
were
authorised to enter the labour room. "But the four
militants tried to
force themselves in, which resulted to a push and pull
between
them and the health centre staff.
In the process, Madi Ceesay, a senior security guard at the
health
centre was beaten by the four men," an eye-witness said.
Madi
Ceesay was reported to have sustained bruises on his body.
Efforts to talk to him were unsuccessful. An officer at the
Brikama
police confirmed the story but declined to comment saying,
"it is
too early to comment."
