My exact observation on this whole issue as you stated it here:

"I suspect a 'clean up' rather than a cooperative intention, in the making.
Only the results will tell  full story."

I was skeptical about voicing it out, thanks to my conservative instincts. I
felt the same way when I read the story. Something is cooking here.
Something that we, the ordinary, shall not know till the outcome. We surely
do not accept the icing on the cake. I guess we just have to wait for what
the cake gives.
