I concur with all those who are suggesting to support a united opposition.
This has been discussed a few times before, and only PDOIS had publicly said
something about it. The UDP and the NRP stayed mute. What are they waiting
for?
I do not think a divided opposition will be able to effect any changes in any
country as divided as ours. If these opposition parties are not being
political hungry, why can't they side line their egos for the betterment of
the nation? $100.00 form two thousand people is over two million dalasis if
my arithmetic is right. I am sure that would give the opposition a lot of
people to reach and that will burst our democracy.
Of course not all of us are for the opposition, but a good and strong
democracy will certainly be very good for our country. I am sure the APRC
will counter what ever finance the opposition might able to pledge for, but
the fact that they are ALL ONE is going to be a big step.
My predictions are there would not be any elections in the Gambia. I have
been proven wrong several times, so I might be wrong again. However, the way
things are going: the firing of the IEC chairman, Chief Justice, Ousman
Jammeh and a lot of other top government officials, tells me that the ruling
APRC will do what ever it takes to hang on power. And I bet the way the
opposition are unable to come up together, that is a sign that they cannot
rule the Gambia as ONE. The divisions will still continue if they cannot come
together.
Ousman Bojang.
