Mr. Coker:
Thanks for your message. In fact, you almost made me cry. I can still see
the old man smiling. Mr. Christensen was a very energetic man. I used to
wonder where he got is energy from.
George, who was few years my senior in High School was a very friendly and
easy going person. He would sit with us during lunch and crack jokes.
Sister Christensen, please do not waste too much time with Ms. N'jie. A lot
of people have substituted soda for water due to health reasons. Please let
us move on. The dictator is taking our country. Oh, Lord have Mercy.
Naphiyo,
Comrade M. Lamine Jassey-Conteh

It is unfortunate that the Gambia-L is being used as a front for personal
attacks.I was surprised to read Isatou Njie's piece on the above subject.
The phrase used by Astrid, " it's for the dogs" is a common phrase and a
figure of speech meaning 'It is not a good quality'.
The Christensen's are very prominent and respectable family, who have
contributed to the development of the Gambia.
The late Mr. Eric Christensen was one of those who during the colonial era
contributed immensely to the attainment of independence for the Senegal and
the Gambia. He was one of those few African administrators who work for both
the French and the British Governments. He was the first secretary General
of the Gambia Government, and he created a civil service that was second to
none in West Africa and to some extend Africa as a whole. Ms. Njie, I
believe you did not know the Christensen family, it a serious mistake to say
that the family look like a 'BULL DOG.'Please let us respect each other and
try to know each other better.
We must use the GAMBIA-L to discuss and debate issues affecting our
homeland.
Tomolac
