Comrade Conteh

I would have responded to your comments about our
contribution towards the Election Fund, but Hamjatta
Kanteh has somehow done the job for me and there is
not much that I could add on except to say that
calling for a united opposition 6 months before the
election gives an indication that Yahya Jammeh is
popular than the likes of Ousainou Darboe, Hamat Bah
and Sidia Jatta. We have to be careful on how we
assess things on the ground. No disrespect to Comrade
Joe Sambou, I must applaud him for spearheading this
initiative but having said so, we have to avoid giving
our detractors the impression that we are just a
minority.  I personally believe that Yahya is less
popular than the rest, and if elections are held on a
level playing field, we would see the demise of
APRC-amen.

On that note I would wish to hear something on how
free and fair elections should take place in October
2001 first before talking about a United Opposition.
Any suggestions on this subject matter, I kindly await
to read them.
