I dont think anyone on the L dare say PPP government is the
best Gambians can come up with. Obviously, we can do better
than that. The political situation in the Gambia is at a
crossroads. United, we prevail, devided we are stuck with Yaya
Jammeh for another term.
What we must understand is that the PPP, despite their dismal
record, can still generate votes if they contest in the upcoming
elections. I know diehard supporters of Jawara who think he is
the best that has ever happened to The Gambia. What we ought
to be concentrating on is talking to the "affected decree 89
politicians" and trying to get them aboard our ship. Eventhough,
I feel the same qualms about the PPP returning to prominence, I
would rather have them working hand in glove with the opposition
than have them contesting as a seperate party.
I do not see any one party winning elections in the Gambia as
an opposition. If anyone believes otherwise, I have a nice
bridge to sell them. That being the situation, we should engage
in discourse that helps bring forth a united opposition and give
them all our support.
