Former Minister Rejected PPP Job Offer

Jobarteh, Bah And Dibba
Banjul, the Gambia

A former minister of cabinet rank in the deposed PPP government has revealed
that coalition flag-bearer Ousainou Darboe turned down two offers of the
position of Attorney General during the PPP regime.

MC. Cham told a Gunjur rally Saturday that all Gambians, particularly the
youths should rally behind Lawyer Darboe whom he said is not interested in
politics but has come to rescue The Gambia from the misrule of the APRC. He
said Darboe's rejection of the post of Attorney General during the former
PPP government showed that the coalition leader is not into politics for
selfish reasons but to help develop the country.

M.C Cham also challenged the APRC's claims that the PPP had not done
anything in the country citing various development projects that he said
were done by Sir Dawda Jawara. "Jawara" he said "went to China and was given
seven projects including the Independence Stadium and health centers". He
said "Jawara also established The Gambia College where many people were
trained."

Mr. Cham added that as a man who has held seven ministries in the former
regime, he knows that the former government had had plans that would have
taken several years before implementation.

Yahya Ceesay another PPP cabinet minister during the Jawara era told
supporters "during the former government, the means of survival was very
cheap in the country compared to that of the present government".

Meanwhile, a sample of the UDP ballot box was shown to the public with the
picture of Mr. Darboe attached to it in a bid to sensitize those who have
never voted in elections.
