Hi folks,

The concernedgambians.org Web site (http://concernedgambians.org) is relaunched.

I was finally able to update the software, and get a few things resolved to get
things going. I hope the site will contribute to efforts at providing Gambians with
communication tools, and forums for discussing our nation's affairs. There already
are valuable and very well run Web sites out there, and I hope that we can all work
together toward a common goal, namely, the dissemination of ideas and information for
the good of The Gambia.

Only registered members can post articles on the concernedgambians.org Web site. The
registration procedure is fairly simple. After you complete the required form, you
will be e-mailed a password to login to the site, post articles, and change your
preferences. You can also change your password, after you login, to something more
easier to remember than the one generated automatically for you.

Postings on the concernedgambians.org Web will be moderated. For this reason, I am
looking for volunteers to serve as managers of the various sections on the site. For
now, the main sections are "Topics" (discussion topics), "Propaganda" (for the
various political parties to post their annoucements and other information), "Web
Links" (a directory of Gambian Web sites and other sites of interest), and "FAQ"
(Frequently Asked Questions). Please let me know if you would be interested in
serving as the manager for any of these sections.

I would also like to take this opportunity to invite all political parties to use the
concernedgambians.org site to inform people about their actitivies and campaigns.
Toward this end, I would like them to provide me images of their logos (in GIF
format, 68 pixels wide, and 73 pixels high). I would like the Propaganda section to
be organized along party lines, to make it easier for people to find information from
each party. As with other sections, the political parties will need to have a member
of representative register on the Web site, to enable them post their articles,
and/or submit news about their organization.

As I've indicated in the Welcome message on the site, I hope that Gambian
organizations abroad, non-governmental organizations, and trade associations will
also use the site to communicate with their members, and share information with the
public. The Web links section also has sub-categories where organizations and
associations with Web sites can list the links to their sites. Similarly, I welcome
Gambians with Web sites, and interested in listing their site in the directory to do
so.

Before this goes on too long, I would like to say that the site is work in progress.
Please do not hesitate to let me, or any of the other volunteers (when they sign-up)
know if you have any ideas for making it better. Also, I would like to thank Sophie
Ceesay for allowing me to register the concernedgambians.org domain name, and Cherno
Waka Jagne for designing the logo, providing the icons used in the various sections,
as well as designing and programming the original site theme.

That's about all that comes to mind. Have a great week, and best wishes.

Katim
