In the wake of the horrendous terrorist attacks, that claimed the lives
of many innocent people in the US, I dedicate this poem to the memory of a
day of inferno.
In a river of silence
aggrieved, tormented
I cried;
I cry for my soul
searching in vain, the
temple of humaneness;
I cry for my soul
searching in pain, the
cocoon of tenderness.
In a blanket of darkness
horrified, agonized
I mourned;
I mourn for my heart
bleeding with tears, the
sea of blood consumed our humanity;
I mourn for my heart
gaping with fears, the
pillar of destruction ravaged our humanity.
I cry for my soul
I mourn for my heart
desecrated in this burning pit, our world.
