Yusupha, thanks for taking the time to do this breakdown.  May I also point
out that when I used figures such as 80% of the electorate not participating
in the elections, as opposed to the figures you used, what I am using as my
denominator is the total number of Gambian voters according to the October
register?  Thanks to the UDP boycott, 33 out of the 48 seats were NOT
contested.  All those ‘eligible’ voters did NOT participate.  Furthermore,
according to your breakdown, in the few constituencies that were
‘contested’, we still have a lot of people that heeded the Opposition’s
calls and stayed at home instead of casting a wasted vote.

You also raised a good point in your earlier post about the implications
this might have on the recently held presidential election.  Just look at
the Serrekunda figures.  What that tells me is that the Casamance people did
NOT want to make the journey this time around.
