Friends,
yes, that is maybe one answer. But there were many reactions in the west on
the US-precidential election. Also from leading politicians, who found it
very embarrassing that a nation, which try comment and direct other nations
on democratic standards ended up after several weeks to let courts and not
the votes guide the election of the president. Here in Denmark there has
also been comments on the result published a few months ago, that the
recounting in Florida has shown that it was Gore who won. The critical
comments here in Europe has mostly been like: USA should not tell other
nations how democracy can be practised, because we can see that USA has
nothing to blame us. But certainly no comments led to boycott or anything
close to that.

A personal comment on the ceremony in Zimbabwe.
On TV I saw Mugabe sworn in for a new period, and I found it very very
funny. There you see a man with this ridiculous artificial hair , a wig,
which is common used in the british legal system, take the oath from the
president. WHY ? Why not an african like ceremony. When he Mugabe blame the
british so much, why then copy such british ridiculous ceremony. And the
ceremony send my thoughts back to crowning ceremonies in old european
monarchies, in feudal system days.
I don´t think that is an african president worthy.

My second thought was after listening to Mugabes speech that his hatred
against the west, Britain, turned out very racist. To me some parts of his
speech was like listening to white racists here in the west, white ku klux
leaders in USA, or the white racists in apartheid - South Africa, or white
nazi racists of today here in Scandinavia. Mugabes message was very clear,
you could not misunderstand it, if you is white.
I can tell you that the message was noticed here, and "fuel" for the whites
here in europe, who has the same message to and sentiments for the blacks up
here.

I´m so sorry that things escalate like this. If Mugabe want to make the land
reform, then do it. But why this extreme racial hatred. If we continue to
sit in our corners and cry racist, hatred, revenge for what you did to me,
over and over again, we will never, never come together. The new danish
government has decided to cut the budget, and very few protested, when it
was announced that we should close our embassy in Zimbabwe.
So few seconds speech from that ceremony got a lot of reaction up here.

Just a comment from
