Hi everyone:
From all indications Mullah Camara and the Minister of Vice and Virtue,
Mullah Jaiteh, have struck once again. This time they have taken offense to
the term 'dickhead', a commonly used slang to describe a stupid, irritating,
or ridiulous person. This has led to the delisting 'sans raison' of our two
esteemed contributors David Manneh and Momodou Mboge whose unsubscription
will be felt by most on this list. These two esteemed contributors have
brought much perspective to the list, yet in typical heavy handed manner, the
Mullahs have ignored a few very relevant points of note;
1. They have ignored the relevance of noun in the context in which it was
used for it is a fact that anyone who is stupid enough to fly a subsonic jet
over a poor and oppressed population is indeed stupid and irritating, a
dickhead.
2. Before unsubscribing folks like Dave and Momodou, the Mullahs should have
balanced the pros and cons of their imprending actions. Dave and Momodou
have brought a lot more to this list than most, and such their humiliation
via their delisting meted out to them by list management hurts this list
adversely.
3. They have, in true Mullah dictatorial style, ignored the benefits of
keeping open lines of communication not only with the list members, but also
with those who were delisted. In other words, the Mullahs should make a con
crete case for why they want to delist these members. The inner sanctum of
Mullah Camara (the list management prolly do not even share decisions before
such actions are taking).
Rumor has it that Mullah Camara is also in the process of appointing by
decree an intellectual strong arm to consolidate his dictatorial hold on his
domain (the Gambia - L) list. The Mullah has been unable to defend his
action and those of the Minister of Vice and Virtue. Therefore, his move to
appoint another Mullah, this time to deal with the written protests of
conscienscious objectors to his style of management, is a calculated move to
stifle this type of opposition. This appointment is not based on merit.
In lieu of the attempts of the ruthless Mullah Camara to gain a stranglehold
on this list, it is time everyone makes their voice heard. Being a Mullah
does not give anyone the right to play God. The decent folk of this list
should be heard.
Down with the Mullahs!
