Weyeh, greetings and I hope all's well with the family. I am glad that
others see how Imam Fatty tries to stretch a yard of elastic into a mile.
Like you said, if Saudi Arabia, the face of Islam is competing in the World
Cup, why would Imam Fatty make such comments. The only reason I can think
of is that he knows Islam better than all. Like Dr. Laye Saine stated in
his analysis of our political and economic situation, the rise of
fundamentalism in The Gambia, woven with politics have the potential to
create a very dangerous environment.

I forgot to also remind Imam Fatty that the Kanifing Imam, Baba Leigh, was a
soccer player for Kasori Nawetan Club and one of the supporters of Kwame
Football Club, while his father was the Imam of Sere Kunda. I'm sure his
father knew what Islam said about soccer and whether his son was violating a
tenet of Islam. One thing is for certain, unless he has a fallout with
Yaya, Imam Fatty is going to be a constant in our diet of the word, and so
we have to tolerate him and his right wing views for the time being.
Hopefully, he would mellow out some.

Chi Jaama
