scene Newetan was played in up country and it never impacted their farming.
Besides, who is farming and feeding the people in up country?  Certainly, it
is neither yourself nor the village idiot.  How can you then, in good
conscience, piggyback on Yaya's stupidity to ridicule yourself?  Why is it
that these senior citizens are holding the fort for the village idiot?  Be a
sycophant if you must, but be sure that you are going to embarrass your kids
in the process, for we will highlight your sycophancy.  You want to help
people up country, tell the idiot to pay the farmers for the past 3 years
and counting.  It is a tragedy to see folks old enough to be Yaya's
grandfather to stoop so low to peddle his garbage.

However, let it be perfectly clear to all and sundry that sycophants are
going to be taken to task, regardless of age.  If some of our country folk
are old enough to play the fool, then we have no problem being young enough
to straighten them, even if that means embarrassing their kids.  It is a
tragedy to see someone who has contributed so much of his time and resources
in the game of football only to end up for whatever reason, to help an idiot
abuse the youths of the game, as long as his (OB) grandkids in and around
Banjul can play football.  A very sorry state indeed.  Please read on.



Ob Conateh Warms to Jammeh's Nawettan Shift

An undisputed heavyweight in Gambian football circles, Alhagie O.B Conateh,
has backed President Jammeh's move to shift Nawettan in the countryside to
the dry season, haling it a 'positive move'.

Talking to Independent Sports, the Honorary Life President of the GFA
emphasized that Jammeh's move is a challenge to the youths in the provinces.
'It is convenient for us in the Greater Banjul Area to play Nawettan as we
don't have farms' he pointed out. The provinces, he went on, took part in
the Nawettan not knowing the implications 'which would affect their farms.
In short, what the President is telling them is to make use of what is
available to them-the land and the tractors.'

Conateh urged the youths to seriously heed Jammeh's call. 'In the rainy
season, they can farm and earn money to sustain themselves. In the dry
season, they can form committees, kafoos and use the money they have earned
to buy kits for the Noran' he explained.

He tagged the President Jammeh's move as a 'God sent thing. He did this to
propel the economy forward and also make the youths to be independent.
Farming is the most lucrative occupation in the world and should be taken
seriously.' Conateh, who is actively involved in the upheaval of youth and
sports, appealed to the youths to take action. 'The rains will soon be here
and it would be immensely beneficial for them to take use of this
opportunity.'
