Good luck to Sahir Drammeh who is contesting on the Social Democrats ticket for
the municipal elections in his county.

STOCKHOLM, Sept 15 (AFP) - Swedish voters go to the polls on Sunday in
general elections that are expected to see a narrow re-election of Prime
Minister Goeran Persson's Social Democrats with the support of their left-wing
allies.
Polling stations open at 8:00 am (0600 GMT) and close at 8:00 pm (1800 GMT).

The minority Social Democrats, who have been in power since 1998 with the
informal support in parliament of the Left Party and the Greens, are being
challenged by a four-party centre-right coalition.
The election campaign has focused primarily on better integrating
immigrants into society and the decline of the welfare system, with health
care and education topping voters' concerns.
Four public opinion polls published on Saturday credited the Social
Democrats and their left-wing allies, the Left and the Greens, with between
50.9 and 51.8 percent of the vote.
The centre-right opposition, consisting of the conservative Moderates,
Liberals, Christian Democrats and Centrists, garnered between 46.1 and 47.5
percent of votes.
Some 6.7 million Swedes are eligible to vote, though more than 40 percent
of the electorate, including the prime minister himself, have already voted in
advance at post offices across the country.
In addition to electing the 349 members of the single-chamber parliament,
or Riksdag, Swedes will also be voting in municipal and regional elections.
Voter turnout is traditionally high in the Scandinavian country, and only
about 10 to 15 percent of voters were expected to abstain from casting their
ballots.
