TAKING BACK OUR INDEPENDENCE!
2005 - A DECISIVE YEAR IN THE FUTURE OF GAMBIA!
WE ASK FOR YOUR SOLIDARITY ON THIS DAY - COME JOIN US
Gambians united to uproot Jammeh will hold a demonstration to protest the recent assassination of prominent journalist, Deyda Hydara and a myriad of atrocities committed by the Jammeh regime against the peace-loving Gambians.
Since their lift on to the "saddles of power" in July 1994, the Jammeh regime has steadily abrogated our democratic rights by enacting countless repressive decrees and a total of forty amendments to the "constitution" to guarantee himself the "President for life" title; the folly of African presidents.
Gambian life is held hostage to the dictates of Jammeh, who considers the Gambia his personal property. On July 22, 2004 - the 10th anniversary of coup d'etat- Jammeh lavished $3,000,000 to celebrate the most infamous day in Gambian history while the country sinks into abject poverty.
The Jammeh regime has become the primary stressor in the lives of the vast majority of Gambians through the actions of the judiciary where the dictum of justice, "innocent until proven guilty" is blatantly reversed to "guilty until proven innocent". The notorious National Intelligence Agency(NIA) has unleashed a dragnet against all of us who challenge the regime's despotic policies. The "zombie" Gambia National Army obeys only to shoot and kill.
In the span of ten years, the Jammeh regime has committed several un-investigated criminal atrocities:
. The assassination of Deyda Hydara on December 16, 2004
. The slaughter of Gambian soldiers at the Yundum Barracks
. The murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay on June 23, 1995
. The fire bombing of the FM1 Radio Station on August 11, 2001
. The massacre of student demonstrators on April 10th-11 2000
. The fire bombing of the Independent Newspaper office on September 20, 2003
. The assassination attempt on Lawyer Ousman Sillah on December 26, 2003
. The torture of Waa Juwara and other UDP militants in 1996
. The second fire bombing of the Independent Newspaper office in 2004
