He vowed that his government will apply Operation No Compromise in areas
that have shown total opposition to his government until they change their
attitude. President Jammeh also urged the people of the area to reflect on
what his government has done for them in his ten-year rule.(June

He called on the town council to settle their bills if they want Nawec to
operate there. "In fact this is not limited to Basse Area Council but to all
other municipalities. I am calling on all municipalities to settle at least
half of the amount owed to Nawec before September, or join Baba Jobe at his
"Seven Star Hotel". (8 June/2004,daily observer)
Jammeh harped on the need for unity, peace and love. The president did not
however talk about anything dealing with Baba Jobe at this meeting. Instead
he spoke at length on development projects in the area, starting with the
construction of the Madina-ba-Soma road. He said work on the project will
commence as soon as funds are available. (10 June/2004 ,dailyobserver)
"Free water and electricity doesn’t exist any where in the world except
Kanilia because that doesn’t belong to Nawec but me", Jammeh said. (8
