Subject: Gambian Radio On The Web - Raki Web Radio
Hi!
I am pleased to announce the arrival of Raki Web Radio (named after
my daughter). The address is:
http://goto.glocalnet.net/raki/index.htm
I have been working on this project for a while and have on more than
one occasion wanted to pull my hair out due to frustration caused by
technical difficulties. Raki Web Radio is dedicated to Gambian music and
is a 24 hour online station bringing you the best Gambian selections.
The radio blends old and new, traditional and contemporary Gambian
music. It features Sererr, Wollof, Mandinka, Fula etc. music.
On the old music side, artists such as Marie Samuel Njie, Ya Sirra Mbye,
Gelewarr, Super Eagles, Lalo Kebba Drammeh, Efri Mbye, Ifangbondi,
Mamudu Susso and many more. are featured. On the contemporary side,
artists such as Dancehall Masters, Pepperhouse Crew, Fugitivz, Musa
Ngum, Mass Lowe, Saf Sap, Bamba Gi, Inspector Chow, Jaliba Kuyateh, my
very self and many more are featured. The selections are blended to
bring you joyful memories and cause you to appreciate what Gambian music
has to offer.
The radio is currently configured for forty simultaneous listeners. I am
still trying to determine the maximum number of listeners who can listen
at the same time without the quality suffering. The radio can broadcast
live programs. Since I am still doing some administrative work, the
radio might once in a while these first days be off the air some short
periods. Send suggestions and report technical issues to my address. I
hope you enjoy the radio. I also hope that Gambian music will win hearts
and minds and bring about the realisation that Gambian musicians really
play some nice music. They just need support. Thanks.
Buharry.
P.S.
Don't forget to add the site to your favourites. For the old-timers,
get a handkerchief because the old time tunes will surely bring a tear
or two.
D.S.
