Hello from London,

Would this interest you and people who are subscribed to your e-discussion
lists? You will see that we are looking for participation from as many
different perspectives and backgrounds as possible.

Many thanks

Dear Colleague

The interim findings of the Commission for Africa will be launched soon in a
consultation paper. This is your opportunity to comment. The Commission is
looking for contributions from a whole spectrum of viewpoints, ranging from
experts to informed members of the general public; from people based in
Africa or anywhere else in the world; and from different organisational
backgrounds, such as from NGOs, governments, research institutes, or
business.

There will be three simultaneous 'e-forums' that you can take part in
between Monday 15th - Friday 26th November:

   * Financing for development and opportunities for growth;

   * Human development and culture; and

   * Peace, security and governance.

All of the postings will be shown on the web. Each forum will have a
moderator who will produce daily and final summaries of the discussions.
You will be able to register to receive these by email.

We regret that the e-forums will only be in English, although there will be
a French translation of the final summary document.

At this stage, we would ask you to circulate this announcement widely. You
can reply, or simply send a blank email, to [log in to unmask] to
be sent a reminder when the e-forums are about to begin.

ODI is hosting this consultation on behalf of the Commission. Earlier this
year, ODI held two consultations for the Commission where the contributors
were invited from African think tanks and non-state organisations. You can
see these (and, from 15 November, the e-forums) at
http://www.odi.org.uk/AfricaConsultation/index.html.

We are looking forward to start these e-discussions that will build on and
widen previous discussions held by the Commission, and hope that you will
join us.

Best wishes

David Sunderland
