A shame there is no Gambian village on nabuur as yet
though there is a Senegalese, Keur Massar, Village.
From what I gather from the Nabuur concept, the
discussion is local community user lead and driven.
The needs have to be initiated from the grassroot
community and specific to that community.
So if there is a project in the Gambia that might
benefit from the international knoweledge bank
available in Nabuur they can initiate a village
discussion group.
Personally, although there is currently no Gambian
village on Nabuur I have started contributing my
limited knowledge to the Burundi village of Bwiza with
the following discussion which I find very intriguing
and might benefit from my limited experience:
"Issue: Youth unemployment leads to social ills and
bleak futures
Bwiza’s youth lacks jobs, training and professional
skills. If left idle, insecurity and prostitution will
increase and with it the danger of HIV and undesired
pregnancies for young girls. Some of the young people
may join the rebel movement which is still active in
Burundi. New sources of income for youth are the
solution."
"Focus: Help to set up a restaurant to fight
unemployment
The local organization Kazoza Kacu wants to set up a
restaurant to create jobs for Bwiza’s youth. The
clientele is available and local youth could easily
learn skills like cooking and being waiters and
waitresses. The first thing is to find information and
expertise on how to start and run a restaurant."
mmmmmm, for me, thats food for thought and some
constructive discussion.
