Is Baba Jobe Campaigning from Prisons?
Wednesday 21st September 2005

By Njameh Bah

The disgraced former National Assembly Member for Jarra West, also the former Majority Leader of the House, is said to be mounting vigorous campaign in jail to persuade the electorate of his constituency to vote en mass for the APRC in the forth-coming by-elections.

Mr Baba Jobe, who had fallen from grace to grass and imprisoned a year ago on corruption charges, is said to be mounting an aggressive electioneering from his gaol by proxy.

“I’ve visited Baba Jobe sometime ago and what he instructed me was to tell the people of Jarra West to give their unalloyed support to the APRC and vote for it in the coming by-elections,” disclosed Momodou Soma Jobe, an erstwhile commissioner for North Bank Division.

Addressing a political rally in Saina Bajonk, Mr Jobe explained that the message he got from Baba Jobe was that if the people of Jarra West are indeed true to him (Baba Jobe) then let them vote for the APRC in the September by-elections to benefit from President Jammeh’s numerous development packages.

On Kemeseng Jammeh, Momodou Soma Jobe accused Jammeh of criss-crossing the Jarra West constituency, misleading and misinforming the constituents. This, he added, is enough reason for the people of Jarra West to disown and be wary of him.

Mr Jobe, a nephew of Baba Jobe, told the rally that the people of Jarra West should not allow Kemeseng to play with their intelligence by hoodwinking them now and again.

“Kemeseng is going round propagating falsehood and misleading people. He will sit in Kombo and when its time for politics, he comes back to mislead you,” he stated.
