EDITORIAL:FREEDOM NEWSPAPER WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED-JAMMEH IS THE THREAT!!
       EDITORIAL
“The events during the past months only proved one thing. You are more dangerous and a serious threat and shame to this country than JAMMEH as you claim he is. We have seen what you are capable of doing - you are ready to burn this country and reduce everything to ashes just to prove your point as always intend in your fabricated articles. If there is something that we need protection from, IT IS PROTECTION FROM YOU.” Those were the words of Sanyangba, a supporter of President Yahya Jammeh. Sanyang who also called himself as Foni accuses the Freedom Newspaper of being a threat to the Jammeh government and The Gambia as a whole. From the paper’s managing Editor, staff writers, Bulfaaleh and private contributors were not spared by Sanyangba‘s empty and malicious ranting.

  FREEDOM NEWSPAPER MANAGING EDITOR
  PA NDERRY M'BAI SPEAKS!!!
This is not the first time that we hear about such erroneous accusations against the hard working staffers of this leading paper. Saja Taal and Mam Sait Ceesay did leveled the same accusations against Pa Nderry M’Bai, some time last year. Here they come again, with more accusations without proves. Why is the dictatorship and its accomplices scared of the Freedom Newspaper? Why the panicking at this hour? Who told you that we are a threat to Jammeh’s government?
We are barely less then two months old and yet they started crying foul. We haven’t exposed anything yet. There are more damaging revelations to come, which will no doubt lead to Jammeh’s demise or absconding from the Presidency. This is no bluff. This paper will make a difference in Africa. We have the know how and the expertise to gather classified information from the Presidency. Our sources are very loyal to us and are out there to feed us about Jammeh’s evil and corrupt practices. If exposing the truth means being a threat to Jammeh and his failed government, then so be it.
Contrary to the writer’s claims, it is Yahya Jammeh who is a threat to The Gambia and her people and not the hard working staffers of the Freedom Newspaper. We will not waste our time to dwell on such misplaced and outrageous accusations. We mean well for The Gambia and the average Gambian appreciates what we are doing here at Freedom.
To some extent, the Jammeh regime have good reasons to be worried about the revelations made by our paper. This paper is now the talk of the town in Banjul and its surrounding localities. Many civil servants, soldiers, NIAS, Daily Observer workers and ordinary citizens browsed the Freedom Newspaper, each morning to find out what is happening in their country, since independent journalism had been muzzled by Yahya and his thugs. This paper’s printouts are circulated everywhere in the country. Its lead stories and seasoned writers commentaries usually dominate local vous and Bantaba discussions. The feed backs Jammeh is getting from his intelligence about the Freedom Newspaper is not positive at all. They gave him the impression that many people in the country go by what we report. That people are circulating our stories everywhere and is seemingly interrupting work in many government offices.
Jammeh will be shocked to know that his own close confidants are exposing his dirty leans in the open and not the Freedom Newspaper as implied by his disgruntled supporters. As a news medium, we rely on sources to effectively carry out our work. We put our lives on the line to protect such sources. No amount of intimidation and black mail can make us reveal our sources. Let Jammeh and his allies continue to second guess about our sources, but they will woefully failed in their bid to suppress the truth. These are patriotic Gambians interested in protecting our country from Jammeh’s misrule. They put Gambia’s interest first before anything.
We do know that Saja Taal, Mam Sait Ceesay, Ebou Jallow and Omar Fye had been conspiring to bring the unshakable reputation of this widely read paper down. They called everywhere to tell lies about the Freedom Newspaper. Little did they know that we are aware about their secret meetings and conspiracy theories to undermine the Freedom Newspaper.

  EBOU JALLOW EXPOSED
The other day, a source close to the state House told us that the Gambian Mission in the US is very worried about the type of stories we published about the Presidency. That they kept on calling Banjul and everywhere complaining about the Freedom Newspaper’s perceived hard editorial line against Jammeh‘s government. We do not want to reveal all what the source told us, but God willing we are here to stay. Come rain, come shine, we are here to expose Jammeh’s atrocities and his collaborators. If this government have the powers to close us down they will do it without delay. Let them try us and see… As long as we are reporting the truth, we feared nothing. Go ahead with your undermining schemes. We are guarded by God.

TAAL AND FYE CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE
  FREEDOM NEWSPAPER EXPOSED!!!
This paper is not anti Jammeh as widely bandit by some government supporters. We have no problem with Jammeh if he is willing to abide by the dictates of our constitution. As an independent news media, we will be doing disservice to our country and her people if we failed to report some of the atrocities perpetrated by this shameless regime. Our duty is to expose the corrupt and dictatorial policies of this drowning government.
Sanyangba should be brave enough to use his real name and address the issues at hand. Cowards hide under the banner of pen name to attack freedom loving people. We are not cowards and are prepared to defend our stories at any level. We are waiting for the day when the new Gambia will refer to our paper’s archives to track down some of the atrocities linked to Jammeh’s government. Your threats will not move us an inch. It will instead give us more courage to do our job better. This paper was conceived on the basis of truth, fair play, objective and responsible journalism. Whoever tries to bring us down will certainly failed. If your hands are clean, you don’t need to fear the Freedom Newspaper. Only the evil and the corrupt perceived us as a threat to national security. All progressive Gambians and freedom loving people cherished what we are doing here at Freedom.
The staffers of this paper suffered all kinds of persecution under Yahya’s brutal rule. We do not need to tell you how many times we have been arrested and bullied by this murderous regime. Our own former managing Editor Deyda Hydara was murdered under Yahya’s watch . We are more angrier than you Sanyangba as you claimed. Stop provoking us. The real threat to peace and development are right before your face. Jammeh’s hands are stained with blood and there is amount of defense you can establish to save him from blame.
On a final note, we want to assure our esteem readers that the Freedom Newspaper will never deviate from its uncompromising editorial line. This paper will report the truth no matter who is affected. Let Jammeh and his cronies continue to lie against us, but the truth must be reported, no matter what. Down with enemies of Freedom. God save The Gambia from Jammeh’s misrule. We rest our case.
