President wants to be able to do 75 push-ups at a time
2010/03/09 22:21:55
Taipei, March 9 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou told a visiting Gambian
official Tuesday that he wishes he can be like his Gambian
counterpart, who can do 75 push-ups at a time.

Ma said in a meeting at the Presidential Office with Gambian Minister
of Foreign Affairs Ousman Jammeh that he would like to become as
strong as Gambian President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh.

Ma praised the Gambian president as a leader of great vision who cares
about the economy, education and women's rights, and who has built his
country into a model nation in West Africa.

He recalled that when Yahya Jammeh won his first presidency in 1996,
the country had only two medical doctors. Last year, the figure had
reached 68, he noted, adding that the president has also promoted the
establishment of a medical school to train the country's own doctors.

He also expressed appreciation for the Gambia's donation of aid to
victims of the flooding caused by Typhoon Morakot in southern Taiwan
last Aug. 8.

Ousman Jammeh arrived in Taiwan March 6 for a five-day visit at the
invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (By Garfie Li and
