Coach,
Thanks for that background info. Beckham is quite a sensation and I believe he will continue to wallow in the limelight for a long time. His son Brooklyn turns a year this week and that would surely be something for the tabloid press.
Beckham might have an attitude problem, but he has outstanding skills which are very admirable. It seems most of the top teams are taking advantage of the feud between him and Fergusson, and are engaging in a race to secure his signature. Inter-Milan had also shown interest. One can sometimes understand Beckham`s reactions or outbursts. He has to tackle an enormous media coverage, coupled with working hard to do a good job at Man U and trying to satisfy his family. This is real pressure. I think he should go out and do what the lady of the house says, lest the family falls apart. Remember the recipe for an everlasting marriage is to do what the lady says (laugh)!!!
The English Premie League is very popular out here in Norway. There are scores of Norwegian players in the league, and that is one reason why the TV gives it a lot of coverage. You should be familiar with names like Solsjær(Man U), Flo(Chelsea), Bakke(Leeds), Leonardson(Tottenham), Iversen(Tottenham), Heggem(Liverpool) etc. There are also Norwegian investors in English football and prominent amongst them are the business tycoons Kjell Inge Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten who partly own Wimbledon. Remember Sam Hammam just let go. The Wimbeldon coach and football professor Egil Olsen (Drillo) is another Norwegian making his mark in English football. He played an outstanding role in elevating Norwegian football to its present standard. Remeber that "exaggerated" and upsetting defeat of Brazil by the Norwegians in France 98?
Concerning Euro 2000, I would love it if the Dutch team are the victors. I fancy their players a lot, and one guy to beware of is Ruud van Nistelrooy of PSV Eiendhoven. Arsenal is after him and Bergkamp was going to be inclusive in the transfer. That tells what kind of a player Nistelrooy is. Edgar Davids is another interesting Dutch player. Last week they lashed their old time rivals, The Germans, 2-1 at home and that was a sigh of relief for Riikard. The German team seems to lack lustre and finesse, but they have a lot of team descipline and that keeps them going especially at big tournaments.
Champions league takes off tomorrow, and I`m looking forward to a Chelsea victory.
Good day coach.
Regards,
Omar.
