Ginny,

I have been just RECENTLY diagnosed (within last four months) with Celiac
Disease, and Type II Diabetes (no insullin.) I actually find the Diabetes
diet (and I am using the Diabetes Food Guide Pyramid with a Nutritionist)
easier to follow - than trying to eliminate Gluten from my diet.

I do struggle with sugar cravings (today in particular!), but I do enjoy
fruit, which helps.

My struggle, is that I am a social person, and "out" frequently with friends
and family in restaurants or situations where I find it difficult to obtain
gluten-free food, AND food that fits in with my diabetes eating plan. This
has been an emotionally painful thing for me, and often leaves me feeling
isolated and "different". I don't like having to discuss my health issues
with other people.

Have you seen a nutritionist and discussed ways to allow occassional treats
into your diet plan?

Best Wishes,
Debbie P.
