TEACHERS FOR AFRICA

Positions: Interested in teaching in Africa? The International
Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH) invites
applications from school teachers, college and university
professors, and school administrators who wish to spend one
academic year helping to improve the quality of education in
both English and French-speaking African countries. Since 1992,
IFESH has placed more than 560 American teacher-volunteers in
African schools, colleges, universities and government
educational agencies.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent
residents; be in good health; have a college degree (graduate
degrees preferred); and a minimum of three years of experience.
Applicants are sought with teaching experience in education
(curriculum development, planning and administration,
methodology, etc.), special education, English (including TESL),
biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, economics
and other areas.

Benefits: The Teachers for Africa Program pays the cost of
placement, orientation, international transportation, health
insurance, and provides a monthly stipend and an allowance for
pre-departure and settling-in costs.

Application Procedure: The next group of teachers is scheduled
to depart for their host countries in August/September 2000.
