“To demolish the home of a poor man that he has struggled very hard to build
simply because his son or nephew decides to fight for a right to live in
dignity is way beyond justification.”
Gassama.

Gassama, listen to yourself and tell us how you can reconcile this principle
with your other contributions here and elsewhere regarding the heinous
abuses of the AFPRC/APRC regime back home. On April 10 and 11, 2000 our
children were ‘fight[ing] for a right to live in dignity’. To refresh your
memory, they came out to demonstrate their disgust for a system that
murdered one of their own and refused to administer justice against the
criminals that murdered Ebrima Barry. Because they had the ‘audacity’ to
demonstrate against the brutal regime we have back home, they were massacred
in broad daylight.

Rather than ‘homes’, their families lost children. I know to some of you
‘buildings’ mean more than lives. But I hope when you read yourself again
you will realize how despicable and disgusting it is to try and justify such
heinous behavior. When you ponder your statement, also think about your
silence about Emmanuel Joof’s case. While you are at it also think about
your statements regarding the torture of journalists in the country. Think
about Dumo’s wife’s plight.

You do NOT have to go all the way to Palestine and ‘fight’ their battles
there. Right under your nose people are being denied their rights to live
in dignity. When they attempt to fight back, they are brutally suppressed
by a callous regime you unashamedly support. You want to talk about
hypocrisy, think about that. Is there a justification for incarcerating
people like Dumo all these months without trial? Is it right to deny
justice to the families of the victims of April 10 and 11, 2000? What
should we call you who is moralizing about the Palestinians but would
happily write-off the lives of our children because you want
‘reconciliation’ (in other words you want Yaya to go scot-free)? Do you
know how many homes those children could have built for their families?
