I never had the privilege of meeting Dr. Gomez even though I have been
greatly enriched by his work. I have referenced his work and his
dissertation in particular, in my own. In fact, I used a text for a
class a few years back in which he contributed a chapter on security. It
was required reading! He is a good and respected scholar, in addition to
being a well known diplomat. He has made a mark and makes all of us
proud. And as Mr. Sidi Sanneh rightly noted, he was a national football
jewel in the days he played the game.
