Asalaamu alaikum Tooma Momodou,

Alhamdulillah and that was indeed a gesture worth emulating ( both the
action of the Muslim man and the cops that helped him). Allah said: 'Inna
salaat kaana alal mu'menuuna kitaaban mauquuta', (Verily, prayer is enjoined
on the believers at fixed times)(4:102). The Prophet (SAW) said this whole
earth is a masjid and wherever the time for prayer finds a Muslim, he should
perform it there. Umar ibn Khattaab, the second Khalif used to write to his
governors: 'As for me the most important part of your duties is the prayer.
Whoever establishes it will preserve his faith; whoever neglects it commits
the greatest omission of all.' (Imaam Malik). Ibn Taymiyya said: 'Its
importance is greater than the mind can grasp and so it must be of paramount
concern to those in authority, taking precedence over their concern with all
other acts.'

Thank you also for raising the point about those trying to 'privatize'
Islaam. I didn't have time to comment on it so I'll just be brief here.

As brother Dr. Mansour Ceesay pointed out some weeks ago, Islaam is a 'Deen'
(a complete way of life). Proof; Allah said: 'Wa maa khalaqtul jinn wal inse
ilaa liya'buduun' (And I (Allāh) created not the jinns and humans except
they should worship Me (Alone). He, Subhaanahu wata'aala also said: 'Say (O
Muhammad SAW): "Verily, my Salāt (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my
dying are for Allāh, the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that
exists). "He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the
first of the Muslims."(6:162-163). This is why when Ibn Taymiyya was asked
about the meaning of worship, he said it involves doing all good things that
Allah likes (privately or publicly and keeping away from all bad things that
Allah dislikes. Check his book, al-Uboodiyya (Worship) at
www.salafipublications.com for more detail on this. It is a masterpiece.

Thank you so much for these pieces of information. May Allah reward you for
it and protect you and your family. May Allah make us hearers of the message
and followers of the best of it. Allahumma salli wasallim ala Nabiyyina
Muhammad. Wasalaam.

Modou Mbye
