Hello :

I feel obliged to clear the air since there seems to be some misunderstanding
about the question I posed on the list in reaction to the sordid passport
affair. The question was a short one, and therefore subject to many
interpretations. I think the beauty and minor pitfall of languages are that
any combination of words can have multiple interpretations. The shorter the
amount of words used, the higher the likelihood there is for
misinterpretation..

In short, I want a specific legal justification for the seizure of OJ's
passport. IMO, the director of immigration owes it to OJ and the Gambian
people to provide an explanation of why this act was carried out. Once the
reason is outlined, it will be up to us to decide whether this is justified
or not. My biased self thinks that the act is not completely justified.

Buharry provided some useful tidbits of information, and even though I do
understand that a passport can be revoked or seized by the issuing country, I
did not think it necessary to state this point. For this reason, I digested
Buharry'e e-mail, thanked him for it then moved on..

Both of you are extremely standup guys and I hope that we can chalk this up
as a big misunderstanding emanating over the interoperation of a few words. I
should have done better with the question but sometimes one has a limited
time to post on this list. At work, I usually have a 15 minute window to
post anything to this list and this is why my piece was so short and
ill-conceived.

I have great respect for both of you and think that you will one day be
valuable assets in a new and improved Gambia.

-YUS
