In every season and clime
     in every place and time
     and in this grief-stricken house
     the staccato of grueling laughter
     admist the stench and decay
     and in the impoverish backwaters
     of the slums and desperation
     reverberates a ululation of sigh
     and in their forlorn cry
     a voice of hope and promise reborn.
 
     In every season and clime
     in every place and time
     and in the womb of adversity
     naked aggression and brutality
     and in their hard hardened hearts
     in this grief-stricken house
     a voice of hope and promise reborn.
 
     a voice of hope; a voice of promise
     a voice of hope and promise reborn.
 
    It is the voice with a conscience
    the eyes with a vision
    the heart without malice
    ill will or disfavor
    the hands that build consensus
    the mind that negates chauvinism
    narrow nationalism and sectionalism
    the attentive ear to their supplication.
 
    And this is the voice
    the voice with a difference
    the God of the people clap
    and they dance to the rhythm.
