I just culled this from some Nigerian friends. If this is the meeting Jammeh will be attending, it seems as if it is a gathering of ex and prsent African dictators. The question that begs is why Chicago State University would sponsor such an event?

Anyway, seems as if a confrontations is looming. I hope the parties in the Chicago area also make their voices heard by perhaps joining forces with other African students who will also be there.

Nigeria's former military leaders, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, General Muhammadu Buhari and General
Abdusalami Abubakar are expected in Chicago State
University, United States on Friday for a programme.

But there are strong indications that the programme may bedisrupted by Nigerians in the U.S.

Exiled Nigerian activist and former President of National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS), Comrade Sowore Omoyele told P.M. News that serious mobilizationby Nigerian students in U.S. to stop the programme is currently going on.

Comrade Sowore who spoke with P.M. News on telephone
said that the decision by Nigerian students abroad to stop theprogramme is meant to give strong and right signal, "that former Nigerian military leaders, especially IBB, are no longer relevant on issues that affect Nigeria".

Comrade Sowore, who was involved in the democratic
struggle during the military era in Nigeria said: "If IBB can come to U.S. for a programme, it means he can also go back to Nigeria and start campaigning for his 2003 presidential ambition".

The former University of Lagos Students' Union president
also told P.M. News that Nigerian students in U.S. are nottaking IBB's presidential ambition "lightly".

According to Comrade Sowore, "some of us are preparing
to return home. We are ready to go to war to stop IBB frombecoming the president in 2003 and we shall do everything possible to stop him".

The activist who described IBB as a "mad man" wondered
what the former military dictator is looking for after his "criminal activities" between 1985 and 1993 when "so many Nigerians, especially Dele Giwa, were murdered by IBB's security agents". Mr. Sowore also revealed that the campaign for the trial of IBB
over the killing of Dele Giwa by Nigerian students in U.S. has kicked off.

"There is no way IBB can escape trial over the killing of Dele Giwa. It is known to every Nigerian that he, IBB killed Dele-Giwa", he said.
