I mean, did they escape or what?Momodou S Sidibeh asked-FREEDOM NEWSPAPER EXPLAINS!!!
            BY:Momodou S Sidibeh
Mr. Mbai, Many, many thanks for your efforts to keep all of us posted about these gruesome developments in Gambia. Nevertheless, I am unable to make much sense of the last part of your previous posting: "....JAMMEH ON TORTURE AND KILLING SPREE!! ON THE 5 ESCAPEES: Daba Marenah and the co were said to have escaped. No! They were picked up from the MILE TWO PRISONS on a Friday 31st March at around 2am. Their alleged escape was later announced by the Govt. on Tuesday 4th April 2006....". I mean, did they escape or what? Were these Jammeh's words? In an interview, press conference? Given all the talk about suspected killings it is of some importance this is clarified? Thanking you in advance,
  momodou s sidibeh
  Editor’s note: Mr. Sidibeh,

Thanks for the complements. Information on the possible death of the five coup suspects remained the same. Nothing changes as far as we are concerned. While the state claimed that these people escaped from custody, the average man in Banjul believes that Daba Marena and others were killed. Unless the government of the day, provide the bodies of these individuals, speculations and counter speculations will continue to rife in days to come brother. The situation is very, very , confusing brother.
With reference to the Mile Two story, this information was forwarded to us by a roving reporter. We are not implying in anyway that these people escaped. The reporter merely quoted what the government claimed. We are bid apprehensive about Jammeh’s story telling business.
As promised, a well placed source in the heart of the Jammeh’s government is digging facts for us about the place where the detainees were supposedly buried. Stay in touch. We will investigate every bid of this callous and heinous crime perpetrated by this administration. Thanks for the concerns.
