  IEC suspected of rigging the polls?

  IEC rigs Kombo East by-elections 
  Gambians were taken aback Monday night when the IEC issued a press release to give the public new figures of the recently held Kombo East by elections a day after the results were declared. The new figures affected only the APRC candidate because 300 more votes were added to his votes. 
  
  According to the previous results which were endorsed by the IEC, Jung Conteh of APRC scored 3365 vote, Lamin R Darboe of UDP 2814 and Momodou Lamin Touray of Nadd 1109 votes. But everybody was surprised when the IEC came with the new figures creating suspicion that the elections have been rigged. 
  Many who spoke to the Freedom Newspaper said the Jammeh regime was very uncomfortable with the results as according to them, the ruling party's 46 percent score is very bad for an incumbent party which is seeking re-election is six months' time. Such tactic was therefore what they reportedly resorted to in order to blackmail the public. A source close to the IEC gave us this information. The source promises to give us more on this.
