A letter of invitation dated January 5, 2001 regarding Professor
Mazrui's keynote lecture launching the Abdulsalami Abubakar Foundation
at Chicago State University said:
"Among the confirmed participants are the Presidents of Nigeria, Togo,
Gambia, South Africa, and Ghana(Jerry Rawlings), the Foreign Minister of
Sierra Leone, and Guinea, the Prime Minister of Senegal, and the
Secretary General of the United Nations."
