A touching narration, indeed. This reminds me of a touching novel, Under
the Neem Tree, written by Susan Lowerre, a former peace corps volunteer in
Senegal. I recommend it as a useful reading for development agents,
anthropologists and other social scientists.

Sometimes the naked destitution of our people and the wanton disregard of
the political leadership makes you think of harakiri.

Thanks for forwarding that piece, Dr. Saine.

Hamadi.
