Bailo, Bailo, Bailo. Ordinarily I would respond to the quip about
PDOISilaria and who among us has it, but you touch on a very important principle.
Electoral college, delegates, etc.

Prior to the abolition of slavery and the civil war, America was generally
considered a homogeneous nation as the natives were carted off to reservations
and afforded autonomous governance. The American slowly became more
individualized and its ethnic and cultural components became more pronounced. In a
multi-ethnic/cultural nation that yearns for democracy, the value and yield of
minorities must be harnessed using fundamental democratic principles. You are
right that One-man-One-Vote is an honourable proposition, but democracy
advises that such an electoral system pre-supposes the equality of man as is
pledged by America, "That all men are created equal, with inalienable rights
........"

In a system where that pre-requisite of democracy has not been achieved, how
do you appreciate minority rights and desires as well as infuse their
creativities and productivities in the national fortune and not leave it to mere
goodwill of the majority. This is the quintissential question I concern myself
with at The GDP. You begin first with the spirit and letter of the
constitution. However, if there is no recognizable constitution as is the case in
Gambia, you are despondent in the primal desire or spirit of equality. When you
have a recognizable constitution, you form a body of custodians
(Judiciary-drawn from all partners to such constitution and remove coercive and onerous
enticements for grafignette), then you can set about the work of equal under the
constitution, equal under law.

The idea of delegates and super delegates and electoral colleges are the
efforts of parties in the USA to extend the idea of equality to the common man.

In effect therefore Bailo, if you were to adhere to the principle of On
e-man-One-Vote without considering the pre-requisite tenet of equality, you will
have embarked on the systemmatic erosion of minority rights by default. In
multi-ethnic societies, the value of the individual and therefore individual
rights is subsumed by cultural rights or minority rights. You could verily
extend the individual to mean unique entities within an electoral contest. We are
aware that individuals in all nations vote primarily according ethnicity,
culture, religion, industry and profession, the latter two in the form of
special-interest groups, and that to the extent that uniqueness approaches
homogeneity, the electoral system approaches the One-Man-One-Vote concept without
prejudice. As long as you have any uniqueness, you efforts should be to validate
the desired One-Man-One-Vote concept. In other words, a numerical majority
by itself ought not be the determinant variable for governance and
participation. You see. In America, One-Man-One-Vote is supported by these mechanisms of
equalization of worths.

I encourage you to visit with us at The Global Democracy Project for a more
rigorous treatment of Equality under law and democratic life. I'm afraid I'll
bore you and some of our coleagues to death here on such comprehensive
matters of life.

"Haruna, You could become the first confirmed case of PDOIS-laria, which I
would define as an extremely, acute and chronic obsession with PDOIS." Bailo.

I thought that is what you wished. For all Gambians to become so listlessly
obsessed with the day-dreaming that is PDOIS for electoral advantages. I must
be missing something. Check with Pa Pierre. He sought salvation from his
personal troubles at PDOIS Politburo. I haven't been there yet. Not sure I ever
will. Unless of course they wake up and smell the Nyankatang.

"You ought to seek urgent psychological therapy otherwise your condition
will deteriorate further to the point of ........ If the Americanas can't or
won't help, just come over here to our great Dr. No ailment is so complicated or
difficult for him to cure!" Bailo.

I might infect Dr. NO herself. I'm not sure she can understand the
complexities of a Haruna Brain.

"Please come over on holidays and take a dose of the concoctions to be
relieved! Please don't pass the bug round to others like our good friend Suntou."
Bailo.

How do you know I didn't catch the bug from Suntou and Jengfann to begin
with??? Don't forget yourself. Criminals of the mind generally do not desire
obsession of other. They decry witness to their mental crimes.

"Remember, we were discussing Obama and you Americanas, not PDOIS." Bailo.

I understood that Bailo. The problem was you, PP, Jengfann, Suntou, Maria
Del Sol, and Juan Carlos Del Sol, aim to identify your struggles at PDOIS with
Obama's struggles and fortunes. That pseudo economies of association is what
wreaked Saachay Mbo. And because I love Obama so, I hate his message being
diluted and corrupted. PP does not have a good immune system against
corruption. So I was afraid. So it is not the obsession with PDOIS. More the love of
Obama. I haven't figured Mr. Jobarteh out yet. I have a feeling he is being
carried in Mori's wave at the one end, and with the PDOIS placebo wave at the
other and I have to be the serum for he is my cousin. I think Mori is trained
on circumspect and discerned value that is why I tend not to worry too much
about him as I do you, PP, Suntou, Jengfann, and the Del Sols. Mori is just too
jittery for my sanity.

"By the way, why can't you Americans abandon your current complicated and
hardly comprehensible electoral system of delegates or electoral college or
whatever it is and replace it with a one man, one vote, equal weight system."
Bailo.

The American Electoral System IS the weighted One-Man-One-Vote system. See
above. What is wrong with you Bailo?

"Say Hi to Obama. I like him so very much! and you too but sometimes!" Bailo.

We love you too men. Who knows, you might be my goro soon you know. I ain't
tellin just yet. I want you to stand on your head, close your eyes with the
mouth open and ears plugged with your fingers. Visualize a world without PDOIS
and see if your problems are not solved. Besides I thought PDOIS changed its
name to NADD????? Let us know here what you see.

"Speed recovery and best wishes!" Bailo.

You wanna be funny don't you? I'm going for my yearly physical now. See you
later. I love you.

I have no idea what you're talking about Bailo vis-a-vis Barack and the USA.
That's what I say about you PDOIS-heads.

"Haruna, Your citation of what Barack now means to you" Bailo.

Not what Barack NOW means to me. He has meant that to me from his days in
South Chicago. NOW was when I thought Barack shared it with you PDOIS-heads
in
digestible form. What is wrong with you? You probably still don't get it.
New
Gambians!!!!

"is very inspiring and encouraging." Bailo.

Indeed. Always has been encouraging and inspiring. Not to Forrrrrrrget (as
our friend Arafat is wont to caution PBUH) Bobby Jindal, Governor of
Louisiana, and Indian-American. I guess you will now get it Bailo. You guys
frustrate
me so friggin much.

"We hope and pray that the U.S of A is on the verge of another great
revolution that will confirm to humankind that with hope, self-belief,
hardwork and
dedication; the human potential can reach destinies hitherto unthinkable in
the past. YES WE CAN!" Bailo.

This is exactly what I mean. What Barack shares or means to the USA is that
we must not rely on the USA's calendar of revolutions to confirm what you
posited immediately above. Our self-revolution must come to pass despite
other's
calendars. Hope, self-belief, hardwork, and dedication are the pre-requisite
ingredients for the human's journey toward achieving hitherto insurmountable
odds. To the extent your journey traverses or parallels my journey, The
fortunes of the USA are affected, one way or the other. So let's leave the
USA
out of this. PDOIS!!!

"I have not forgotten the photo you promised me. I want it for my photo
gallery." Bailo.

Wait a minute Bailo. I thought I sent you that photo shortly after I
promised it. And here I am thinking you had received it but I didn't look as
beautiful as I claim and you refuse to even thank me for it. Whew. That's a
load off
my friggin back. Ok so you probably didn't get it. I shall send it again
later today or tomorrow. I'm just curious, why did you wait till I'm down to
share that you still haven't received what I promised? Or did you all of a
sudden love me again to desire my picture because you think I'm joining your
movement in which you have hijacked OBAMA??? I want an answer. Don't do like
Jengfann and brother Suntou; Run away to Posten when you have unfinished
business
here at Ellen. We're not havin it.

"Welcome aboard!" Bailo.

Aboard where? If this ship has you and Jengfann as captain, I want off right
now. I dunno about Mori, but that man is too invested in Obama to see
clearly. I will deal with him through his family in Missouri who haven't
seen his
behind for 17 years only to drop in on them unannounced and ask them for
votes
for Obama. I don't blame the family for not picking him up at the friggin
airport. I heard he spent the night on the airport sofas. And this goes to
UDP, NRP, APRC, NADD. You beta reconise (kids don't try this at home) before
election time.

Easy Bailo.

Ron, as the idiot Joe is wont to quip. How many times do I have to tell that
PDOIS head its Rone, and Rashid for him and Jengfann? Masoud. MQJGDT. Darbo.

When I see and hear Barack, I see me, my brothers from Latin America, Asia,
Arabia, and the Pacific Isles. Possibilities that can accrue from good
education, discipline, industry, and due-diligent consideration.
Possibilities
accelerated by the benign ambiances of the greatest nation on earth at
present,
America. Barack is the guiding light and spirit of the newer American
immigrants defying hitherto awesome odds.

Barack reminds me that we are indeed the change we yearned (Ghandhi - Be the
change you seek),
that we are indeed the ones we've been waiting for. These two statements and
Barack's life examples reaffirm to me that we are our own prophets,
consecrated from birth with the building blocks of our lives from creation.
That when
we look for prophets and savior in other, we engage in foolhardy and
tomfoolery.

Barack reminds me that like whites, hispanics, asians, and arabs, blacks
also desire favourable ambiance for the comforts of life on earth and
spiritual
conditioning for life in the heavens. That instead of wallow in despondency,
hopelessness, and listlessness, we must be inspired by example of our own
kind. That that is the movement of YES WE CAN. The growing awareness that no
one
can free us but ourselves when we so desire. I thank Barack for the
inspiration. I will benefit greatly from my witness of him. That in all our
endeavors
and dreaming, we must tether unbridled hope to firmer moorings of the
realities of democratic life. Democracy is maximally appreciated when
citizens
recognize their self worth and potential value.

I will take Barack's message and synthesize it for my life. I will share it
with my family, friends, and fellow citizens. That will be the climactic
movement for real change we can believe in.
