Malanding thanks for the message. The tasks is that you should make all efforts for Gambia-l to continue even if it is going to cost us financially. Gambia-l is a national asset for future research on Gambia and related matters and I hope all subcribers should contribute to safethis wonderful forum.

Thanks for the information. I would suggest that you get the copy of Gambia-l archives on CD/DVD from the server administrator at St. Johns so that we have a backup. The Gambia-l archives are a national asset for future research on the Gambia and related issues.

Setting up of our own G-L Listserv will be the ideal solution.

However, I think looking for another free host like St Johns or University of Washington is not a bad idea either, knowing how demanding it is to maintain such a service. Perhaps list members at the University of Washington should make enquiries if the University could once again host the L. My doubt about Yahoo is that it’s a commercial venture and they will not be able to offer the same security and space as we have been used to.

Another alternative is to join other list owners who are trying to set up this new server so that Gambia-l could be moved to the new location without loosing the current archive structure.

Keep us informed about developments.

Best regards,
Momodou Camara
