Finally if government did not want Gambian civil
servants to discuss politics I do not think that they
would have opened up two websites for Gambians to
discuss issues of the day affecting all of us. Most of
the computers with internet access are to be found in
government offices and schools. Pamodou Jobe, I did
not come to Gambia-L for any recognition or
commendation. I just happen to believe in what
the government is doing.

I would have loved to believe this but the situation
in the civil service is totally different to what you
perceive it to be. It depends what type of politics
you are talking about. I witness several instances in
which people working for the Civil/Public Service are
scared of talking about politics for fear of losing
their job. As one Krio woman said to me;
" BOY, NO LET ME LOSE ME JOB, ARE NO NO ANYTHING ABOUT
POLITICS" A civil servant could easily lose his job
for being a sympathiser of the UDP. By the way, how
many Civil/ Public Servants have lost their jobs after
the Presidential Elections of October 2001.

Coming to the business of computer with internet
access at Government Offices, unless I am blind but
from my visit, there were very FEW government offices
that can claim access to such facility. Infact, you
can even count them. Perhaps you can provide me
further information on this matter.

Finally, you mentioned two websites, well I only know
of www;statehouse.gm, which one else?

Just an honest thought, no hard feelings.
