Lets start by quoting part of what Halifa said on the papers today(see the daily observer for more).

Quote:
"Contributing to the debate, Mr Sallah called on IEC to engage all stakeholders in a quest to enable Gambians abroad participate in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking to the Daily Observer recently, Mr Sallah said as a start, the IEC must establish rules that would involve the authority of stakeholders to appoint agents to monitor the whole exercise, particularly the registration process.

“The agents should be involved in the filling of forms, by applicants which should indicate polling stations, villages, parents, birth certificate, ID cards and passports. “I am sure if such rules were made, the constitutional right of The Gambians, home and abroad will be fully defended,” he said.

END QUOTE...

This is exactly what was being signalled in my piece earlier on.The process of registering voters can never be played with.Never mind if those voters are home or abroad. The constitution of any country is what its citizens are supposed to use if they want to maintain good governance.Well if the provisions of that very constitution are ignored then ANARCHY rules, period!
I concur with what he said without hesitation. It is not Halifa that counts for me here but the ideas or references coming from him as a political figure. If NADD fails to look into their "politico-microscopes" thus see to it that the registration process is handled fairly then let them not waste their time contesting Yaya, because that is the greatest and the most serious issue before anything else.
About Gambians abroad voting...Yes that is also long over due.Anyway five minutes ago I was in the Halal meat of an Iraqi who was bouyant and happy because he said that he was travelling to Ohio to vote! Wow! I looked at myself and then felt a thread of shame was rolling down from my head! Why? because I had Halifa's piece spread before me on my wireless laptop! Here I was listening to a man from a war torn country getting ready to go and vote.I the one from a so-called stable country could not even know when Gambians could ever be able to vote abroad?! I did my own little efforts on that while in DC some of those Gambians I was working with are on line anyway. They can say if I am painting good images for myself or not.
This is pathetic our neighbours ie Senegal have been voting abroad for so many years now.Ok when we hear second Republic from Yaya does that really pain our hearts? Second Republic?
When citizens cannot still vote abroad? Second Rebublic with the current media bill? Second Republic when the marbles are kept and registration of voters being handled like a joke?
The paper work involved in making sure that everything is in place does not even need money or raising funds! There are embassies in Banjul if and when approached with an unbias project towards the registration of voters they will help and provide the necessary logistics forthwith.
I hope so we will not witness another BHARAT JOSHI incident again? Yaya cannot still stop the habit of using the executive branch when it comes to elections! Yaya does what he likes and then thinks that is right every where. If he does that then more obstacles will be rising before his face.Yaya please remember what I always say here and when we used to talk face-to-face. No one on earth can fool God! So chew on that till when I have another email to send here.
