Dampha,

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Ngum's outrageous and dumb assertion that Chongan in his days in uniform was a "worst monster" than, say, Singhateh, is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE! Chongan may have done things in the past - peccadilloes, at worst - that are regrettable and which he may have already paid for but to paint him in this outrageous, despicable and sinister Idi Dada fashion as Ngum and his collaborators are currently doing is simply unbecoming. Can Ngum and his collaborators cite a case where Chongan sent anyone to his death - directly and indirectly? Can they cite any case where Chongan subjected anyone to such inhuman torturing like the ones Colly and Chongan narrate as being meted out to Jammeh's political prisoners pace July 22 1994? Ngum's churlish nonsense ought to be treated with the contempt you and else have given it. The man has a personal grudge against Chongan. Shame on Ngum that he chose to be so vicious and vile towards someone who has never slaughtered a G!
ambian life whilst sounding meek
and mild to animals like Jammeh.

Simlarly, the faceless programmed fanatic who said that he watched Colly boasting about the State House impregnable security and thus signs of Colly's complicity in the Jammeh Mess is showing his signs absurdity. The idea that Colly warning would-be and potential invaders of the Gambian State indicts him for complicity in the Jammeh Mess is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. I've watched that video tape too. Colly was merely carrying out his duties as a senior army commander briefing the press on what was a wanton attack on the STATE and not the GOVERNMENT by brigands from Kukoi's private guerrilla mov't. There is a world of difference here. Colly was working for the State in his capacity as a senior commander in the Gambian Army. As it happens, the Army is a State institution and not a department/wing of the gov't of the day. These people cannot even tell the difference between the State and the gov't of the day. Just about tells you the level of these peoples political ignorance and blind !
fanaticism.

Chongan, it took me some three good hours to read what amounts to a tear-jerker. Chongan, all this time i've come to know, you've never displayed any bitterness or hatred towards those who did these barbarous things to you. Even in your piece, you chose to be magnanimous, sanguine and displayed a self-deprecatory humour that has not only warmed my heart but showed you are a human being. This is the way victors behave...... oh yes, you are a victor, Chongan. You've won, Chongan. All the achievements and great strides you've either embarked upon or have successfully completed since Allah freed you from that hell hole is a tell-tale sign how you have triumphed over the wicked souls who have illegally captured you whilst you were carrying out your duties to the State. Chongan, you have displayed valour, professionalism and moral tact when you stood up to these moronic imbeciles and criminals in defense of your country.

Finally, i hope you will collaborate with Colly more and even co-author a book on what actually happened as opposed to the smarmy lies and half-truths that the APRC apologists are currently peddling on July 22 1994. And if you can, please do join Colly in his narratives and fill the holes for him, as you did with this great piece of yours.

Best Wishes,

Hamjatta Kanteh
