FROM THE MIMBAR OF HOLY HARAM IN

MAKKAH AND MADINA

(Friday, March 9, 2001)

PILGRIMS TOLD TO CELEBRATE PRAISES OF ALLAH IN PIETY AFTER HAJJ RITES.

IN MAKKAH

Sheikh Osama Bin Abdullah Khayyat, Imam and Khateeb of the Holy Mosques in Makkah called on the pilgrims to fear Allah and keep away from polytheism and wrongdoing now that Allah has enabled them in His bounty to complete the rites of Hajj.

In is Friday Sermon (March 9, 2001) at the Holy Mosque in Makkah; Sheikh Khayyat said that the performance of the Hajj rituals is the right of Allah, which the pilgrims have to fulfill. Allah told the pilgrims that when they accomplish their holy rites, they should celebrate the Praises of Allah as they used to celebrate the praises of their fathers with all their heart and soul.

He said that the pilgrims pray to Allah to give them good in this world, and good in the Hereafter and defend them from the torment of the fire.

He explained that the good in this world includes, good health, comfortable living, a good wife, abundant subsistence, useful knowledge and righteous deeds.

He said that if the people want to be defended from the Hell fire, they have to abstain from doing prohibited things and dubious acts.

Sheikh Khayyat told the pilgrims to observe the sanctity of the rituals they have just completed and not to relapse in obscenity and wickedness but they should continue their obedience to Allah by fearing Him and doing good deeds.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Mohsen Bin Mohammed A-Qasem, Imam and Khateeb of Prophet's Mosque in Madina, congratulated the pilgrims for the accomplishment the Hajj rituals.

He explained that the Islamic religion is absolutely perfect and serves all the interest of mankind, such as the worshiping, the social dealing s and all the solutions necessary to protect the society from chaos and disorder.

IN MADINA

In his Friday Sermon at the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Al-Qasem called on worshippers to fear Allah and refrain from committing sins.

He told Muslims that when they visit the graves it is not permissible for them to pray or seek intercession of the dead, saying that the people should pray to Allah directly and worship Him alone without any associates.

Sheikh Al-Qasem also explained that the amulets and charms hanged around the kid's necks cannot serve any purpose or bring them any good, and so Muslims have to be very cautious and not deal with the sorcerers or believe their superstitions or ask them to foresee their future.

He said that all these acts indicate a defect in the belief and the trust in Allah, and so Muslims have to be very careful about such things.

Sheikh Al-Qasem concluded his Friday Sermon by enjoining Muslims to perform their prayers in time and in congregations and to frequent mosques. He also enjoined them to live on halal "clean" income, so that Allah may answer their supplications.

The Holy Qur'an says:

O ye who believe! ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness that ye may take away part of the dower ye have given them except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. (Surah An Nisaa, Ayat 19)

(Commentary by A.Yusuf Ali) Among many nations, including Arabs in the Days of Ignorance, a step-son or brother took possession of a dead man's widow or widows along with his goods and chattels. This shameful custom is forbidden.

Another trick, to detract from the freedom of married women was to treat them badly and force them to sue for a Khul'a divorce or its equivalent in pre-lslamic custom, when the dower could be claimed back. This is also forbidden. Or the harshness may be exercised in another way: a divorced woman may be prevented by those who have control of her, from remarrying unless she remits her dower. All kinds of harshness are forbidden.

Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) sayings:(Hadith)

Abu Hurairah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do you know what backbiting is? He was answered: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said; Your saying of your brother that which he would dislike. Someone said: But if my brother should be as I say? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: if he should be as you say then you have been guilty of backbiting and if he should not be as you say, you are guilty of calumny." (Muslim)

DU'A (Supplications)

Glory to Allah! And praise is to him.

There is no god but Allah! Alone, he has no partner. His is dominion, his is praise, and he is capable of all things.

I celebrate the glory of Allah and His praise by the vastness of His creation, by His pleasure, by the splendor of His throne, and by the totality of his word.

I Seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to him.

I Seek refuge in the totality of the word of Allah from the evil of creation.

Oh Allah! We ask for your peace and blessings upon our prophet Mohammed.

With your name my lord, I lay myself down; and with your name I rise, and if my soul you take, have mercy on it, and if you send it back then preserve it as you preserve your righteous slaves.

Oh Allah! Save me from your punishment on the day of tour slaves' rising.

Oh Allah! You have created my soul and you take it back, you bring it life. If you sustain in then forgive it. Oh Allah, I ask you for strength.

In your name, Oh Allah, I die and I live.

Glory to Allah, praise to Allah, Allah is most great
