GRTS NEWS SUNDAY 4th. JULY 1999.

Reports from Basse say yesterday's heavy rains have caused serious flooding in Basse destroying buildings and household valuables. According to our URD reporter, the worst affected parts are residents living along the Water way on the Basse/Mansajang highway. The Commissioner for Upper River Division Mr Daba Marenah visited the affected places, and provided shelter for the flood victims at the government quarters in Mansajang. He appealed for assistance from NGOs, international organisations and private individuals to help the victims. Earlier reports from Basse, spoke of serious damages of 120 compounds by heavy storms in Taibatu, Sare Alpha, Tambasansang and Suduwol in the URD. The destruction include three primary schools and the Gamtel telephone antenna in Suduwol.

Greetings
Matarr M. Jeng
