The following Observer editorial says a lot about our nation's state of mind. Napoleon, indeed, is always right. That's nothing new. Read on.

So True!
The Daily Observer (Banjul)EDITORIAL17 March 2008 Posted to the web 17 March 2008
"Gaza is an open air prison camp", stated President Jammeh on his return from the IOC Summit. A land containing as many people as the whole of The Gambia is plunged into darkness at will, is starved and attacked at will, and the world looks the other way. Even when they ran away to refugee camps, such as in Lebanon and Jordan, the killers followed them there and butchered them at will.

Gaza is also a concentration camp in that it is locked in by Israel's brick and iron fences. It is a concentration camp in that we experiment on those people at will - through violence, through "democratic elections" whose result we refuse to accept if they don't vote the way we like, and yes through weapons of mass destruction that we, not-so-secretly, experiment on them. And of course with the illegal nuclear weapons possessed by Israel with which we threaten the whole of the Muslim Umma should they attempt to come to the Palestinian's aid (Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, etc).

SO, SO TRUE!!
And yes, President Jammeh is so so right when he talked about our hypocrisy over United Nations resolutions. Israel has nuclear and chemical weapons - they put their own scientist, Mr. Vanunu, in jail twenty-years ago when he told the world (through the Times of London).

Israel has weapons of mass destruction too - Amnesty International and other reports on the 2006 Israeli atrocity against the state of Lebanon categorically established that fact. Where are United Nations reports and resolutions on Israel's nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction? Serbia was attacked to give the people of Kosovo their own state. How about enforcing all the United Nations resolutions that the state of Israel has flagrant disobeyed for forty years - and giving the Palestinians back their homeland?

SO, SO, SO TRUE!!!
And yes, President Jammeh is also right when he compared such inaction to quick action at the UN when Muslim States are seen as being at "fault". Iraq was attacked, we were told, for having weapons of mass destruction which, embarrassingly, we have been unable to find since we invaded them five years ago. And yes, President Jammeh is right again as we got Muslim nations to back our attack on Iraq - which has resulted in the destruction of a well developed historical Muslim civilization and its well educated professionals. And now we have turned to another Muslim country, Iran. "We want to give the people of Iran democracy", said President Bush last month without bashing an eyelid!

Finally, the oppression and disunity created from within and without the Muslim Umma has indeed led to various groups taking up the tactics of a highly destructive and counter-productive terrorism. President Jammeh told the Muslim Umma: "We must unite and come together ... to disassociate ourselves and our religion from such terrorist elements if we are to be seen as credible in the eyes of our followers and in defence of our NOBLE RELIGION". SO TRUE, Mr. President.
