Ashjborn + Maila:
Biri Biri is certainly a source of inspiration to many young Gambians. I
remember watching him perform many heroics for the national team, and the
1980 (or was it 81) Zone II team with Tony Joiner, Charlie Boy, Idah Carr,
Lamin Owen etc is - talent-wise - one of the greatest Gambian teams to be
ever assembled on a soccer pitch.

Maila, I wish we could recover some of these records (on film) so that we can
all see his exploits, and I am quite sure that teams such as Seville (Spain)
and B1901( Denmark) have archived such games. Also, it would be nice to see
footage from the game in 1967 where he beat 7 Senegalese players before
scoring. In fact, I heard that Les Grandes beat us 10 to 1 in that game, and
Biri was so miffed, he tried to go play goalie. A Senegalese koto told me
this a long time ago, and I wonder if anyone on this list can verify this
one?

Ashjborn:
At this rate we are going to have invade the Scandinavian game to reclaim all
our lost soccer talent. But for real, I think the Gambian sensation in
Denmark will seek his fortunes in Europe, and as such I do not expect him to
ever play for the Scorpions.

Yus
