                                  EDITORIAL:Why Freedom Newspaper?
             EDITORIAL
             Why Freedom Newspaper?
We, at Freedom Newspaper are here to report Nothing but the truth. To put it mildly, we strive to get information from the government of the Gambia and pass it on to Gambians and the international community; we also strive to inform the Gambia government about the grievances, concerns and the needs of Gambians. We as well are determined to gather and disseminate information from people to people-hence the triangular or three way flow of information: from government to people, people to government and from people to people.

  FREEDOM NEWSPAPER FEARED BY JAMMEH'S
  GOV'T-EDITOR JAMBANG EXPLAINS WHY
The government of the Gambia and it's supporters will not appreciate this paper. We will continue to unearth every bit of treachery and unprecedented corruption in Jammie's government. In the weeks a more damaging but truthful activities of Jammeh's government which includes executions, tortures, intimations and arms trafficking will be presented to world leaders for consideration. We will not rest as an independent media until Gambians are free from the brutal regime of Yahya Jammeh.
The Gambia has never seen a dark period like this before: We were born and raised in the Gambia but have never seen journalists gunned down, soldiers and civilians executed, state minister burnt to ashes in his car, people disappearing without traces, abductions, killing dozen innocent teenage students. Those advocating for Jammeh are urged to counter these claims. A simple contrast between former president Sir Dawda K. Jawara's government and that of Jammeh will help in putting the point across: Death Squads/vigilante:
Jammeh has one led by Musa Jammeh; former president Jawara has none. Executions: Jammeh's government executed Late Lt. Basiru Barrow and numerous others including Almamo Manneh; Jawara has no execution records- Jammeh and his fellow comrades would have been executed by Jawara when they were disarmed at the airport by Nigerian soldiers on the eve of the 1994 coup. They were let go. Jammeh kills on mere rumors. Where is Daba Marena, Yahya Jammeh? Where is Foday Makalo? Where is Lt. Saye? Where is Cpl. Dumuya? Who killed Deyda Hydra, Jammeh? The list could go on, and on!

DABA MARENA AND OTHERES WERE KILLED
  UNDER YAHYA'S RULE
Public Corporations/Parastatal: Under Jawara GPTC was well functioning and eased transportation for must Senegambians; GPTC is dead under Jammeh.Gambia Ports Authority was busy with cargo ships; hardly any today. This was initiated by Jammeh's stupid idea of Pre-inspection programme. I remember as a reporter, how the opposition, especially Hamat Bah and Sidia Jaata urged government to toss the "the good for nothing" policy. Gamtel was Gambia's pride; they 're reduced to becoming government's petty cash safe. The Gambia Public Works Department, PWD was busy patching our roads; roads are worst under Jammeh.

  JOURNALIST
  DEYDA HYDARA
  WAS ALSO KILLED
Rule of law, democracy and freedom of speech: It was Gambia's respect for the rule of law and basic human rights that earned us to headquarter the African Center for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS). We say what we wanted without being killed. We have seen time and time again when Jammeh will ignore court orders. A case in point is the suspension of an elected mayor! It sounds like a joke when a government can dismiss an elected official. Similar scenario unfolded in Citizen FM case where government refused to reopen the radio station after a humiliating court verdict in the private radio's favour. We are witnesses to illegal detention of journalists just recently.
Our message is that all these inhuman acts against Gambians are being documented and those responsible will be brought to justice as the days of Jammeh are numbered, although he threatened to stay in power for the next 30 years! Let him day dream.

IT IS TIME FOR ANNAN AND WORLD LEADERS TO
COME TO GAMBIA'S AID. JAMMEH IS BURNING THE
  GAMBIA.
